Welcome to Black Forest Alpacas in Black Forest, Colorado, located NE of Colorado Springs.  We are the closest alpaca farm to Colorado Springs.   We truly love our alpacas, our alpaca business, and this "alpaca/country" way of life. Please take some time to enjoy our website. We try to cover all the major products and services associated with owning alpacas.

Black Forest Alpacas is owned and operated by Greg and Sandy Smith. We're just northeast of Colorado Springs about 10 miles and about an hour from Denver. Our farm is considered a medium-sized alpaca farm with about 55 alpacas to choose from for any alpaca purchase. We also have several top-notch herdsires--bloodlines from some of the biggest and best farms in the country--to select from. We provide "country hospitality" in all aspects of our alpaca business so whether you want to call and just talk "alpacas", ask a specific question, come out for a farm visit, or travel in from out-of-town to visit--we are up for all options! We take our farm motto seriously--"Our Alpacas offer Old World charm and New World opportunity". We really have found the alpaca industry does offer the best livestock opportunities in North America--bar none!  One of our major farm goals is to raise high quality alpacas for sale at reasonable prices and provide outstanding customer service AND support. We are especially excited and proud to co-own the outstanding young male, TP Poseidon's Motivator.  Have you heard of him yet....oh, you will.   He is now a 10-time champion (and he is only 25 months old)!!   At the 2009 AOBA National/World Fleece Show in Cleveland, OH the first week of June, Motivator took three ribbons:  1) First Place in his class of 6; 2) Light Male Color Champion out of 57 light males; and 3) BEST CRIMP for the entire show (out of approximately 700 huacaya fleeces)!!!  It was an extremely tough competition.  He was up against the very best from some very big farms who have been mainstays in the industry for years.  We are very excited to get Motivator in to our breeding program.  You will be amazed by his fleece characteristics.  Outside breedings will be limited.  We are pleased to offer a few initial breedings at just $3,000.
